Modelling- Elisabeth Frink

Elisabeth Frink

  • Born Suffolk 14th Nov 1930- April 18th 1995.
  • Sculptor and print maker.
  • Three themes in her work, the nature of man, the horsiness of horses, the divine in human form.
  • Her subject matter, men, birds, dogs, horses and religious motifs.
  • Bird 1952, Tate, her first successful pieces.
  • She drew and made prints but best known for her bronze out door sculptures.
  • Created by adding plaster to an armature, worked back into with a chisel and surform.
  • One of 5 women of achievement selected for a set of british stamps in Aug 1996.

I can appreciate her work but I have to say that I much prefer the work she has done from the animal form to her male forms, I just like the rough look of her sculpture.
