Shaun Tan
- Born 1974, Perth, Australia.
- Illustrator and author of children's books and speculative fiction cover artist.
- He won an Academy Award for The Thing.
- From a young age he illustrated poems and stories he heard, drew dinosaurs, robots and spaceship, liked The Twilight Zone tv show.
- "It was one thing i could do better than anyone else when i was in school"
- "I don't think I've ever painted an image as a reproduction of what I'm seeing, even when I'm working in front of it . I'm always trying to create some kind of parallel equivalent."
- He uses pens, inks, acrylics, charcoal, scraper board, photocopies and linocuts.
One thing that I really like about his work is the number of different materials he uses to create his different senses, some paint some pencils, but each with the same technique and i really like the way he does it.
