Illustration own research - Maurizio Quarello

 Maurizio Quarello

  • From Turin, Italy.
  • Started as a freelance in 2004.
  • Illustration for books of multiple languages.
  • When he was a child he use to love reading fairy tales, ones with ogres, devils and witches, And as a child he drew monsters, medieval knights, animals, mostly eagles.
  • He uses acrylic mostly, however he has used other techniques, Indian ink, pencil, oil colours.
  • Inspired by great cinema he has seen.
  • Also inspired by Wolf Erlbruch and Michael Sowa, and painters that inspire Bruegel, Bosch, Rosso Fiorentino.

I really like the cartoony sort of look that it has in his work, and I like the bold but realist colours that he uses in his work. Over all i just like the way he has managed to create his characters and the senses and the look of his finished work.
